Terrateig's 600th Anniversary

Today's walk was along the lower parts of the Penyes Albes mountains to the neighbouring village of Terrateig.

Past the olive groves and the fast ripening olives and along a track we refer to as the 'low road'. It's weaves its way along steady, but not steep, gradients through shady pine woodland which makes for a pleasant walk even when its quite hot.

Today was ideal weather though with plenty of sunshine interrupted by developing clouds which provided a brilliant array of sunbeams. Temperatures in the early 20s which makes this time of year perfect for walking.

Looking back from the track we could look down on Montichelvo which was bathed in its own pool of sunlight.

Half an hour or so later we descended into Terrateig and into their 600th anniversary! This morning there had been religious ceremonies and this afternoon there was going to be a huge village paella.

We did see the visiting marching band from Oliva as we walked through.

From Terrateig we took the campo route back to Montichelvo passing through orange groves along the way.

Home for our very own paella.
